Avraham "Bobby" Kalmi (6 December 1939 – 29 June 2014) was an Israeli footballer who primarily played as a defender or midfielder. He earned two caps for the Israel national football team and was part of the squad that won the 1964 AFC Asian Cup.[1]

Early life

Born in Sofia, Bulgaria, Kalmi immigrated to Israel with his family around 1950.[citation needed]

Club career

Kalmi came through the ranks at Maccabi Jaffa and debuted for the senior team in December 1956.[citation needed] Over the next decade, he made 163 league appearances and scored 12 goals.[citation needed] In 1967 he moved on a loan to the Atlanta Chiefs in the United States, playing in the short-lived NPSL, before returning to Israel the following year.[2][3][failed verification]

International career

Kalmi was capped twice for Israel between May 1962 (debut vs Turkey) and May 1964 (final appearance vs Hong Kong).[4] He was included in the 1964 national squad that won the AFC Asian Cup.[citation needed]

Later life and death

After retiring in 1968, Kalmi lived in Bat Yam, Israel. He passed away there on 29 June 2014 at the age of 74.[citation needed]
