Comment: Not sufficient enough other than Ultratop rank to pass WP:NMUSIC. ☮️Counter-Strike:Mention 269🕉️(🗨️ ● ✉️ ● 📔) 06:21, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
Comment: The article largely depends on references to McCartney’s own words and a few album reviews. For a song to meet notability guidelines, there should be significant coverage in reliable, independent sources that discuss the song's impact, reception, or cultural significance. "Bip Bop" is a song by the British-American rock band Paul McCartney and Wings from their debut album Wild Life.
The song was re-released on the Pure McCartney album and the EP Family[2][3]
Background
[edit]Paul McCartney began composing the song in the key of E major, with chord changes to G, A, B, C and D.[4] McCartney had taken the title from his daughter's "gabbling" and "sheer uninteresting junk."[5]
Reception
[edit]Paul McCartney has always been disdain in his hate for the song on many occasions. Especially in The Lyrics: 1956 to the Present, in which he stated:
I can get a bit perfectionist about things and think, ‘This is just not one of my grand pieces,’ and often I’ll get a bit down on them. I remember being very down on a song called ‘Bip Bop’ and thinking, ‘Oh God, how banal can you get?’ But I once said that to a producer named Trevor Horn, who produced Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Grace Jones and a lot of cool recording artists, and he said, ‘That’s one of my favourites of yours!’ And then I could see what he saw in it, which is what I saw in it when I wrote it and wanted to record it, so he made me feel better about that.
According to McCartney during an interview with Paul Du Nover in Q Magazine: "What’s the worst song you’ve ever written, then? "Bip Bop. The lyrics are fucking awful," he grins, and then starts singing: "Bip bop, bip bip bop, Bip bop, bip bip band, Dig your bottom dollar, put it in your hand…' But [producer] Trevor Horn told me, 'That's one of my favourites'. I can’t hate it that much, can I? There must have been a reason I liked it in the first place."[7]
