Muhammad Boota Shakir (Urdu: محمد بوٹا شاکر; born 1 September 1975) is a Pakistani poet, columnist, and farmer, known for his work in Urdu, Punjabi, and English poetry. He has authored several poetry collections and actively participates in literary activities in Pakistan and abroad.
Early life and education
[edit]Boota Shakir was born in Chak No. 551 TDA, Layyah District, Punjab, Pakistan. He completed his early education from local schools and later graduated with degrees in Punjabi and Education (PTC). Coming from a literary family, his poetic inclination was encouraged from an early age.
Literary career
[edit]Boota Shakir started his poetic career in Urdu and later expanded into Punjabi and English. His works include:

- Mohabbat Aur Khushboo (محبت اور خوشبو)
- Taazaa Hawa (تازہ ہوا)
- Sahoo De Sang (ساہو دے سنگ)

His poetry focuses on themes of love, nature, human emotions, rural life, and cultural identity. He is also a founding member of the literary group "Sanjhiyan Tandan."
Recognition and awards
[edit]Boota Shakir has been recognized both nationally and internationally for his literary work. In January 2024, he was honored with an award for his book Masoom Tabsum by the Academy of Literature, Pakistan during their annual International Writers Forum in Islamabad.[1]
He has also received recognition from Punjabi literary communities in India and Canada.[2]
Personal life
[edit]He belongs to a respected Bhatti Rajput family of Layyah. His father was Ali Raza Deen and his mother was Bashiran Bibi. He is married to Kosar Bibi (an educator), and has five children (three sons and two daughters).
