Draft:Chammak

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A chammak (Arabic: جمأك) is a term from the UAE used to refer to a child who often vapes or drinks alcohol. They are often found in shopping malls, and in Downtown Dubai. Their favourite flavours of vapes are grape. Despite trying to be gangsters, they are often part of loving families and live in upper middle-class areas like Dubai Hills or Emirates Hills.

Origin

[edit]

the possible origin for this term is from a song called Chammak Challo by an Indian Kareena Kapoor.[1] Despite being an indian term initially, chammaks are often racist towards indians, or try to be as arab as possible.

Reputation

[edit]

Chammaks are often ridiculed and laughed at. They are also often called "annoying" or "cringe", as they do not fit in well with the community.

Hangout spots

[edit]

They love hanging out in Dubai Hills Mall. Mall of the Emirates and Dubai Mall are close seconds for the CRA (Chammak Ratio in Area).

Notable incidents

[edit]
  • A gang of chammaks cut the hand of another chammak.[2]
