Cosmos FK, also known as The Mighty Cosmos is a Swedish football club based in Östersund. The club currently plays in the sixth tier of Swedish football.[1]
Background
[edit]Cosmos was founded in 2018 under the name ÖFK Cosmos, as an "integration team" of Östesunds FK. The original squad mostly consisted of Darfur United players who had taken part in the 2014 ConIFA World Football Cup in Östersund and received asylum in Sweden.[2][3] In addition to participating in the "Zero Point One" project in which 0,1% of ÖFK players' salaries went towards funding ÖFK Cosmos, ÖFK player Saman Ghoddos also contributed 10,000 kr to the team.[4] The team initially played in Division 6, the eighth tier, but won the promotion playoff to Division 5 in their first season.[5]
In 2020, after having been promoted to Division 4, Östersunds FK stopped their financial support of the team. Cosmos subsequently lost the "ÖFK" part of their name.[6]

Notable players
[edit]In May 2025, former Östersunds FK goalkeeper Aly Keita joined Cosmos FK, after having been fired by ÖFK due to a drug-impaired driving incident the year prior.[7]
