Darrin Davis (born April 13, 2003), known professionally as DDPresents, is an American recording artist, mixing engineer, and record producer. He is the founder of Rising Uncovered Studios, an independent music production platform based in Los Angeles. DD has collaborated with a range of independent and nationally distributed artists, including Trinidad Cardona, Smokepurpp, and NO1-NOAH. His work spans hip hop, R&B, pop, trap, and electronic genres. As of 2025, he has accumulated over 700 music production and engineering credits, according to Muso.ai [1] [2]
Early life and education
[edit]Darrin Davis was born in Portland, Oregon and raised in Camas, Washington. He became interested in music during middle school, where he joined the choir and performed vocal solos. In eighth grade, he began experimenting with basic music production using Audacity (audio editor), where he learned foundational concepts such as equalization, compression, and multitrack editing.
While attending Camas High School, DD expanded his skills using digital audio workstations such as FL Studio, and began recording and producing songs with local artists in the Pacific Northwest region. His interest in both the creative and technical aspects of music led him to pursue formal education in the field.
After high school, DD enrolled at Clark College in Vancouver, Washington, where he earned his Associate of Arts (AA) degree. He later attended the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences (CRAS) in Gilbert, Arizona, a technical institution specializing in audio production. At CRAS, he received comprehensive training in studio engineering, post-production, sound design, and live sound. [3]
YouTube and independent beginnings
[edit]While still in school and developing his music production skills, DD launched a YouTube channel under the name DDPresents. The channel, which focused on original music, remixes, behind-the-scenes content, and promotional visuals, eventually garnered over 25,000 subscribers and six million views. This early foray into content creation allowed DD to gain hands-on experience in video editing, audience targeting, metadata optimization, and cross-platform promotion [4] [5]
Career milestones: Rise of Rising Uncovered Studios
[edit]In 2022, DD engineered and was featured on the song "MIA," collaborating with $teven Cannon, Nessly, Crape, and Paycheck. The track was released independently and gained attention from underground music blogs for its energetic delivery and collaborative lineup. Rap Fiesta described it as a "star-studded hype record" that showcased Davis's production and vocal contributions. [6]
That same year, DD launched Rising Uncovered Studios, a media and production brand focused on empowering independent musicians through affordable audio engineering, mixing, and digital marketing. With a presence in Portland, Los Angeles, and Phoenix, the platform has built an active following through its collaborations, content releases, and artist promotions on platforms like Instagram and YouTube.
Through Rising Uncovered, DD has offered creative development support, studio access, and engineering services to a mix of local and nationally recognized acts. The brand has also served as a launchpad for collaborative compilation projects and cross-genre networking within the underground music scene.
Collaborations and notable works
[edit]In 2024, DD appeared in a long-form interview on the YouTube series Jimmy’s JamBox (Episode 415), where he discussed his early musical influences, independent career path, and future goals. The conversation included reflections on his upbringing in Washington, his approach to production and collaboration, and the personal motivations behind his decision to pursue formal training in Arizona. Davis emphasized the importance of creative control and technical knowledge in shaping his sound. [7]
Davis has collaborated with a diverse group of independent and nationally recognized artists, including NO1-NOAH, Trinidad Cardona, Smokepurpp, 645AR, and Kamiyada+. His production style incorporates elements of hip hop, R&B, electronic, and pop, with an emphasis on atmospheric textures, melodic structure, and rhythmic contrast.
Notable tracks include "Stay," a summer-themed single featuring NO1-NOAH and Steele 11; "Dark Knight," a high-energy collaboration with Smokepurpp and Almighty Jay; "SPACESHIP," featuring DJ3EEZY and 645AR; and "Smile," with Trinidad Cardona. These works have been recognized within the independent scene for their genre fusion and collaborative range, contributing to Davis's reputation as a versatile and adaptive producer.
In 2025, DD released "MVP," a collaborative studio album that includes contributions from multiple artists across various genres. The project showcases his versatility as both a producer and recording artist, with tracks ranging from trap-influenced anthems to melodic R&B and experimental hip hop. [8] [9]
His work has been featured in music publications such as Just Indie Art, HipHopSince1987, and Tunepical, which have noted his contributions to the underground music community and his genre-blending production style. These articles highlight DD's ability to merge mainstream appeal with experimental sound design, as well as his commitment to collaborating with emerging talent in independent scenes. [10] [11] [12]
Technical expertise and gear
[edit]DD is proficient in multiple digital audio workstations, including Pro Tools, FL Studio, and Audacity (audio editor). His production setup includes hardware such as the Warm Audio WA-47 JR microphone, Universal Audio Volt 4 interface, and WA Headroom headphones. For vocal processing and effects, he frequently uses Antares Auto-Tune, Melodyne, and plug-ins from FabFilter and SSL.
He has received formal training in signal flow, patch bay routing, and analog and digital audio systems, including experience setting up PA systems for venues and bar environments. These skills were developed during his time at the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences (CRAS) in Gilbert, Arizona, where he studied music production, post-production, sound design, live sound, and broadcasting. DD also gained experience in studio operations, game audio, and multimedia integration using industry-standard tools. [13]
Studio internships and professional training
[edit]While studying at the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences (CRAS), Davis completed an internship at Demŭn Studios in Phoenix, Arizona, where he contributed to tracking sessions and produced behind-the-scenes promotional content. This experience provided hands-on exposure to commercial recording workflows and artist collaboration in a studio environment.
In 2025, Davis began interning at Apex Arts Studios in North Hollywood, a multidisciplinary facility known for hosting audio, video, and podcast productions. His responsibilities included session setup, equipment management, and assisting with media post-production.
Real estate career
[edit]In addition to his work in the music industry, Davis has worked as a licensed real estate agent with eXp Realty LLC since 2022. Based in Washington State, he has applied his communication, branding, and marketing skills to assist clients in residential real estate transactions. Drawing from his background in digital media, Davis leverages social platforms and content creation to promote listings and connect with potential buyers. His work focuses primarily on the Vancouver and greater Clark County areas. [14] [15] [16] [17]
