Dannayi Music is a Myanmar-rooted musical collective based in the United States, co-founded in 2022 by DJ Wine (real name Yan Naung Soe; also known as Double U). The group blends ambient, electronica, electropop, indie pop, new age, and symphonic pop to create ethereal, healing soundscapes.

History DJ Wine (Yan Naung Soe), born April 15, 1987, in Yangon, Myanmar, began his career in electronic music in the early 2000s. Known professionally as Double U or DJ Wine, he helped pioneer the Myanmar EDM scene by co-founding the Myanmar DJ Association in 2003 and opening a DJ school in 2005. He gained recognition for producing the soundtrack for the film Angel of Eden and composing music for the 2013 Southeast Asian Games opening and closing ceremonies held in Myanmar.

Following the political upheaval after the 2021 Myanmar coup d'état, Yan Naung Soe became politically active and faced persecution, leading to his emigration to the United States as a refugee. Settling in Denver, Colorado, he continued his music career, performing locally and releasing new music online.

In 2022, Yan Naung Soe co-founded Dannayi Music, a collective that includes conductor and composer Htet Arkar, lead vocalist Pan, and supporting musician Gabriel Junior Min Naing Shwe. Dannayi Music fuses ambient, new-age, and symphonic elements with modern electronic and pop genres, aiming to craft immersive and healing sound experiences.

Collaboration: "In The Quiet Land" and the Suu Birthday Campaign Dannayi Music played a key role in the production of the song "In The Quiet Land," part of the Suu Birthday Campaign—a musical tribute project commemorating the 80th birthday of Aung San Suu Kyi in 2025. This project sought to raise global awareness and solidarity through artistic expression.

The song is based on a revered Burmese poem written many years ago and was transformed into a moving musical piece by Dannayi’s founder, DJ Wine, and collaborators. Produced under the executive guidance of Linnith and featuring lead vocals by Ninzi May along with the American-based Federal Band from Maryland, the song embodies the spirit of hope, resilience, and quiet reflection.

Dannayi Music’s involvement brought ambient and symphonic textures to the track, merging traditional Burmese literary heritage with contemporary musical styles to create a powerful and emotive anthem for the campaign.

Musical Style and Influences Dannayi Music’s sound is characterized by ethereal vocals, symphonic arrangements reminiscent of the 1990s, and ambient textures designed to evoke healing and transcendence. The group draws inspiration from medieval and new-age music traditions, combined with contemporary electronica and pop influences.

DJ Wine’s personal style spans uplifting and progressive trance, melodic house, and electro house. His productions often feature melodic hooks and atmospheric layers, blending Myanmar’s traditional motifs with modern electronic music trends.
