Mohammad Gaddafy bin Haji Shadoon, professionally known as DJ Daffy, is a Bruneian radio personality, entrepreneur, event host, and talent developer. He is best known as one of Brunei’s most enduring voices in broadcasting and entertainment. DJ Daffy currently hosts popular shows on KRISTALfm, and is a key figure in regional talent exchange, media production, and brand ambassadorship.
Early life and education
[edit]DJ Daffy began his early education at St. Michael's School in Seria before moving to Cardiff, Wales, in 1991–1992. Upon returning to Brunei, he continued at Sekolah Rendah Kiarong.
His secondary education included:
- Sekolah Menengah Mumong (now Sekolah Menengah Pengiran Jaya Negara Mumong)
- Sekolah Menengah Kampong Pandan (now Sekolah Menengah Sayyidina Ali)
- Sekolah Menengah Bukit Beruang (now Sekolah Menengah Sayyidina Othman)
Career
[edit]Broadcasting
[edit]DJ Daffy's broadcasting career began in 1999 when he was invited by a schoolmate, Azlee Bidin, to audition at Rangkaian Pelangi (now Pelangi FM). Out of nearly 300 applicants, he was chosen as one of the top five new DJs. During his tenure, he created several major programs and events, including:
- The first Pelangi Roadshow in Temburong
- A record-breaking roadshow at Jerudong Park with over 10,000 attendees
- The launch of the Pelangi Awards (Anugerah Pelangi) in 2003
He was voted Best Personality DJ in both 2001 and 2003.
In April 2005, DJ Daffy joined KRISTALfm, where he continues to host two weekly programs:
- Gempak – Saturdays
- Cafe Jazz – Sundays
Regional and international exposure
[edit]In 2016, DJ Daffy became a presenter and commentator on Dangdut Academy Asia on Indosiar (Indonesia), and in 2018 he served as a judge on Putri Muslimah Asia. He was also featured in other international talent programs including Aksi Asia and Grandmaster Asia.
Octove Company
[edit]In 2006, DJ Daffy founded Octove Company, which focuses on discovering and promoting Bruneian talents. The company collaborates with Indosiar, helping Bruneian singers, models, and presenters gain international exposure, particularly in Indonesia.
