From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Faiz Tandon is a Swiss technology executive and entrepreneur, known for his role as co-founder and sales director of Safe Host SA, a Switzerland-based data center colocation company. He has played a central role in shaping Switzerland’s cloud infrastructure landscape and was instrumental in the development, expansion, and eventual acquisition of Safe Host by global investment firm IPI Partners.

Career

[edit]

Tandon co-founded Safe Host SA and has held multiple leadership roles within the company, including serving as its director. Under his leadership, Safe Host expanded to become one of Switzerland’s largest data center providers. The company’s flagship facility in the canton of Vaud—reportedly the largest in Switzerland—was launched with a capital investment of approximately CHF 190 million and served major enterprises, including financial institutions and cloud service providers.[1][2]

Tandon also oversaw the development of Safe Host’s fourth facility, located in Rafz in the canton of Zurich. Announced in 2020, the Rafz data center was designed to expand Safe Host's national footprint and support the operational needs of global cloud providers entering the Swiss market. At the time, it was the company’s largest project and marked a strategic step in reinforcing Switzerland's position as a hub for compliant and secure data infrastructure.[3]

A strong advocate for data jurisdiction and infrastructure resilience, Tandon was a frequent industry spokesperson. He engaged with regulatory and business communities on topics such as secure data handling, energy efficiency, and cloud compliance in Switzerland.[4][5][6]

In May 2022, Safe Host agreed to be acquired by IPI Partners, a global investment firm specializing in digital infrastructure. The deal, which valued the business at approximately USD 1 billion, resulted in IPI acquiring a majority stake in Safe Host and integrating it into its portfolio company, STACK Infrastructure. Tandon was a key figure in facilitating the strategic transaction, which marked a significant milestone in Switzerland’s data center market evolution.[7][8][9]

Impact

[edit]

Through his leadership and strategic initiatives, Tandon helped establish Switzerland as a competitive and secure environment for cloud and data center services. His contributions have been recognized in Swiss and international media, highlighting his role in building out large-scale, compliant infrastructure to meet both enterprise and governmental needs.[10]
