Festus Fiifi, professionally known as DJ Aligation, is a Ghanaian disc jockey, music curator and entertainer recognized for his contributions to Ghana's most prominent nightlife venues,[1][2] radio platforms and music scenes.[3][4] He has been active in the entertainment scene since the early 2010s and has held residencies at prominent venues and participated in significant events across the country.
Early Life and Education
[edit]DJ Aligation was born on September 20 in Ghana. He developed an early interest in music and DJing during his time at Presbyterian Boys' Secondary School (PRESEC). He began experimenting with music using PC DJ software, often setting up school computers at inter-house competitions to play music for school events.
Following secondary school, he pursued professional training in DJing and journalism through the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) and completed an internship at Obonu FM in Tema.
Career
[edit]Aligation commenced his professional DJing career between 2010 and 2013, performing at venues such as Royal Palm Pub in Nungua and Tops and Tails Nightclub[5] on the Spintex Road in Accra. From 2013 to 2015, he served as the official DJ for Excel Nite Club, which later rebranded to Club 45[6] and is now known as Silver Fox Nightclub.[7]
Between 2016 and 2018, he held residencies at several Accra-based nightclubs, including Hotgossip Nightclub,[8] Hollywood Nightclub, Bedouin Nightclub, and Paparazzi Nightclub. From 2018 to 2022, he was the in-house DJ at One2One Bar[9] located within the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel[10] in Accra. As of 2021, he has been performing at Sandbox Beach Club[11] and, since 2022, at Soho Bar[12][13][14]and Mad Skyz.[15]
Aligation has been associated with Akwaaba UK events since 2019, participating in various shows both in Ghana and internationally.
Notable Performances and Media Appearances
[edit]In 2016, DJ Aligation performed at the Ghana Carnival[16] held at Independence Square in Accra, an event aimed at showcasing Ghana's cultural and creative industries. He was the official DJ for the Okay FM Jams at Achimota Mall in 2019[17][18] and contributed to Abeiku Santana's Ekwansodwoodwoo show on Okay FM (2017–2019).
In 2021, DJ Aligation performed at AmaFest Ghana,[19] recognized as the first major Amapiano event in the country,[20] making him one of the pioneering Ghanaian DJs in that genre.
Artist Collaborations and Work
[edit]Aligation has collaborated with KN Records and served as the personal DJ for Koo Ntakra,[21][22] the winner of MTN Hitmaker in 2013,[23] from 2015 to 2019. In 2024, he also worked with Keche Global.
