Frans Heesen

Frans Heesen (1946 – April 23, 2025) was a Dutch entrepreneur and pioneer in luxury yacht building.[1]. He was the founder of Heesen Yachts, one of the world's leading shipyards for superyachts, based in Oss. He was also the main sponsor and honorary chairman of the TOP Oss soccer club for many years.[2]

Career

In 1978, Heesen took over the company Striker Boats and founded Heesen Yachts. A year later, the first yacht, the 20-meter-long Amigo, was launched. International success came in 1988 with the launch of Octopussy, at the time the fastest superyacht in the world with a top speed of over 50 knots. Heesen sold the company to Vagit Alekperov in 2008[3], but remained involved for several years as a commissioner and ambassador.

Involvement with TOP Oss

Frans Heesen was a loyal supporter and sponsor of the TOP Oss soccer club. In 2011, the club's stadium was renamed the Frans Heesen Stadium in honor of his many years of support and involvement with the club[4]

Death

Frans Heesen died on April 23, 2025, at the age of 78 in his hometown of Oss. He is remembered as an entrepreneur who had a major impact on international yacht building and on his hometown of Oss.[1]
