Submission declined on 10 June 2025 by S0091 (talk). This submission appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Wikipedia's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established. If you still feel that this subject is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, please rewrite your submission to comply with these policies.

Comment: Almost all the sources are what ISSAI/Nazarbayev University says which are primary and not independent so cannot be used to establish notability and should only be used sparingly. S0091 (talk) 14:31, 10 June 2025 (UTC)
The Institute of Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence (ISSAI) is a research institute affiliated with Nazarbayev University in Astana, Kazakhstan. It focuses on advancing research and development in artificial intelligence (AI),[1] with particular emphasis on computer vision, medical AI, natural language processing, and speech technologies.
History
[edit]ISSAI was founded in 2019 by Dr. Huseyin Atakan Varol,[2] a robotics and AI researcher. Initially operating as a university-affiliated lab, it became an autonomous research unit within Nazarbayev University in 2024, with the goal of scaling up foundational and applied AI research in Kazakhstan and Central Asia.
Overview
[edit]As of 2024, ISSAI employs approximately 70 researchers, engineers, and data scientists. Its team includes alumni of local universities, top international institutions, and the Bolashak International Scholarship Program.
Research and Projects
[edit]ISSAI is known for its open-source contributions, maintaining a large repository of models and datasets on its Hugging Face profile.[3] Key projects include:
- KAZ-LLM,[4][5] a family of large language models for the Kazakh language, based on Meta's LLaMA architecture.
- Oylan,[6] a multilingual vision-language model supporting Kazakh, Russian, and English.
- Beynele, a text-to-image generation model with multilingual prompt support.
- MangiSoz,[7] a web-based service for speech recognition, text-to-speech synthesis, and machine translation.
- TilSync, a real-time subtitling tool designed for multilingual events.
Outreach and Collaboration
[edit]ISSAI organizes an annual Summer Research Program,[8][9] providing opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to engage in AI research. The institute collaborates with academic and industry partners in Kazakhstan and internationally.
