Kev Mud is a British stand-up comedian and former undercover journalist, known for his pun-based comedy, political edge, and personal story of overcoming homelessness. He won the UK Pun Championships in 2024 and is listed to perform on a main stage at the 2025 Glastonbury Festival.
Early career and journalism
[edit]In 2020, Mud worked undercover with The Guardian on an investigation into modern-day slavery and illegal working conditions in Leicester’s garment industry during the COVID-19 pandemic. The article, ["Boohoo booms as Leicester garment factories linked to lockdown"], helped expose unsafe labour practices in factories supplying clothing to Boohoo. The investigation contributed to a public backlash that wiped over £1.5 billion from Boohoo’s share value.[1]
Following the investigation, Mud left journalism and began living in a caravan, later using those experiences as material for his stand-up comedy.
Comedy career
[edit]Mud began performing stand-up in the early 2020s. His material often addresses class, housing insecurity, and political issues, blending autobiographical storytelling with surreal humour and wordplay.
In 2024, he won the UK Pun Championships at the Leicester Comedy Festival. He was also nominated for Best Debut Show at the same festival.[2] Previously, he received an honourable mention at the Bath Comedy Festival New Act Competition 2023 and was a nominee for British Comedian of the Year 2022.
In 2025, Mud was listed on the Glastonbury Festival line-up.[3]
