LRQA is a multinational company, headquartered in Birmingham, United Kingdom (UK), which provides certification, inspection, verification, cybersecurity and advisory services. The company operates across sectors including food and beverage, retail, hospitality, renewable energy, transport, technology and telecommunications and financial services.

History

LRQA was previously part of Lloyd’s Register’s Business Assurance and Inspection Services division. In 2021, it was established as an independent business following its acquisition by funds managed by Goldman Sachs Asset Management.[3]

In 2023, LRQA appointed Ian Spaulding as its Chief Executive Officer, effective from September 1. Spaulding, who previously led ELEVATE and served on LRQA’s executive committee following its acquisition, succeeded Paul Butcher, who stepped down after five years.[4]

ELEVATE (2022): An Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) and supply chain services provider.[5]

Sustainable Assurance Solutions (2022): A provider of sustainability audits, consulting and training services.[6]

Ergon Associates (2024): A London-based labour standards, human rights and gender equality consultancy.​[7]

StepUp Solutions (2024): A management consulting, advisory, training and audit provider based in Canada​.[8]

RESET Carbon (2025): A provider of corporate and supply chain carbon management solutions.[9]

Core Business Solutions (2025): A US-based provider of advisory services and software for Quality Management Systems (QMS) certification​.[10]
