Melisexuality – a sexual, romantic, or emotional attraction to different genders or gender identities that is constantly or frequently shifting (it may always or sometimes change). Melisexuality can sometimes be mistaken for abrosexuality; however, abrosexuality refers solely to sexual attraction and is not associated with romantic or emotional attraction.

Melisexual individuals may describe themselves as being connected to all aspects of sexuality within the LGBTQIA+ spectrum. They may experience sexual, romantic, or emotional attraction in ways that align with multiple sexualities or romantic orientations simultaneously, due to their constant change. Alternatively, they may find it difficult to precisely define their sexuality, romantic orientation, or emotional attachment to other genders.

Etymology

[edit]

The prefix meli- comes from the Ancient Greek word for “honey.”

Melisexuality can be understood as something fluid or thick like honey—reflecting the continuous or frequent changes in gender, sexuality, romantic orientation, or emotional attachment, as well as the varying intensity or “thickness” in how these identities are experienced.
