The Mobile Ecosystem Forum (commonly known as MEF) is a non-profit industry organisation in the telecommunications sector with member companies from a broad range of associated fields whose products power mobile services such as mobile messaging, mobile content, mobile advertising and IoT. MEF currently has around 150 members.
MEF represents the interests of its members via industry programmes, working groups and ecosystem specific initiatives - creating reports, white papers and educational documents. MEF Also hosts several online and in-person events every year.
MEF conceived and operates the ongoing SMS SenderID Protection Registry.[1] an initiative to protect consumers from mobile phone scams. The initiative has since expanded to include Spain[2] and Ireland[3]
MEF hosts the annual "Meffys" industry awards celebrating innovation, creativity and ingenuity in the Mobile Ecosystem - in 2022 held in Barcelona.[4]
History
[edit]MEF was originally founded in 2000 as the Mobile Entertainment Forum in 2015 rebranding as the Mobile Ecosystem Forum.[5][6]
In 2020 MEF Launched the SMS SenderID Protection Registry[1]
