Early life and education
[edit]Nigel Preisner was born in Preston, Lancashire, England. He attended Runshaw College in Preston. His mother is of South African descent, and his father is of Polish descent. He is related to the renowned Polish film composer Zbigniew Preisner on his father's side.
Following his military service and later work with NATO, Preisner pursued further education, completing a Strategic Negotiations course at the UC Davis Graduate School of Management and a High Impact Leadership course at the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainable Leadership.[1]
Military Service and Awards
[edit]Preisner served in the British Armed Forces, specifically with the Lancers (which are part of the Royal Armoured Corps). As Acting Sergeant Nigel Steven Preisner of the Royal Armoured Corps (Service Number 25178053), he was Mentioned in Despatches for gallant and distinguished services in Iraq during the period 1st April to 30th September 2008.[2]
He was also awarded the Queen's Commendation for Valuable Service (QCVS).[3] His service with The Royal Yeomanry is noted for the period of 2002-2010.[3]
Career
[edit]Preisner served as a country manager of language capability for NATO Mission Iraq. In this role, he was responsible for recruiting, training, and developing local interpreters, providing high-level language services for various circumstances, from on-the-spot translation for generals and senior diplomats to professional training for non-commissioned officers. His work often involved operating in challenging and volatile environments, including needing to wear full armor and take refuge in blast shelters.[1]
Following a rapid evacuation and the downsizing of the NATO mission, Preisner began working for an international rescue agency. In this capacity, he focuses on relationship building, strategic planning, and the training and hiring of talent. He has been based in Belgrade, Serbia, and his work includes supporting interagency training exercises that simulate natural and man-made disasters.[1]
While his career has evolved to include broader international relations and leadership roles, he also has experience in the security industry, as indicated by his association with Samson Security.
Personal life
