Partners4Housing

[edit]

Partners4Housing is an organization that guides housing and benefits solutions for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) across the United States. Founded in 2010, the organization specializes in roommate matching, shared living development, and benefits navigation.

History

[edit]

Partners4Housing was created in 2010 by Pam Blanton, who identified the need for better solutions for families of individuals with IDD to find roommates and establish shared housing arrangements. As a former housing coordinator in Seattle and recognized expert in her field, Blanton developed a team specializing in working with self-advocates and families supporting individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities to create personalized future plans.

Services

[edit]

Partners4Housing offers several specialized services:

A comprehensive online assessment service that evaluates housing options, available benefits, and support service requirements for individuals with disabilities.

The organization maintains a secure, invitation-only Roommate Matching Pool that connects individuals with compatible roommates based on support needs, interests, and lifestyle preferences.

Services include:

Approach and Methodology

[edit]

Partners4Housing works with self-advocates and families of adults with IDD who need assistance understanding options, obtaining benefits, finding compatible roommates, and securing appropriate housing. Their approach helps families answer three fundamental questions:

  1. What does their loved one need to live outside the family home?
  2. Who will they live with?
  3. How can they afford it?

Impact and Recognition

[edit]

Partners4Housing was nominated for an Ivory Innovations Award and received a grant from the Dan Thompson Memorial Fund. The organization has helped thousands of families and self-advocates access benefits and has developed dozens of diverse Shared Living homes serving over 120 people with disabilities.
