Life
[edit]Prince Guseong was born in Hanseong as the second son of Grand Prince Imyeong, the fourth son of King Sejong the Great. Unlike his troublesome father, he was a morally upright child. He passed the gwageo in 1466 and served as a military official. In 1468 he was appointed Minister of Military Affairs at the age of 27 in recognition of his efforts in suppressing Yi Si-ae's Rebellion. The next year he was promoted to the position of Yeonguijeong, the youngest in Joseon history[2]. King Yejong used him to counter the power of the factions in court and raise royal authority. He resigned from politics to mourn the death of his father in 1469. In 1470 the Hungu Faction accused Prince Guseong of conspiring to take the throne. The Prince was sent into exile to Gyeongsang Province and died 9 years later in Hwanghae Province at the age of 38[1].
