Reb Fountain is an American-born New Zealand songwriter.

Her 2020 self-titled album won the 2021 Taite Music Prize.[1]

Early Life

[edit]

Reb Fountain was born in San Francisco, and raised in a music-centred, liberal Christian community that she described was "like a full-on Woodstock hippie situation."[2] Her mother was a nurse and her father was a professor of economics.[3]

In 1979, her family sailed into Lyttelton aboard the Oriana,[4][5] moving to Christchurch for her father's new role at the University of Canterbury;[2] Fountain was 11 years old when they arrived to New Zealand.[6]
