[1][2] SALPA FILMS[3] is a Nepal-based production company that produces fiction and documentary films with a focus on human stories, seeking to showcase the depth and complexity of the human experience. Salpa Films’ “Bare Trees In The Mist,” and “No Winter Holidays” have been showcased at prestigious film festivals such as the Toronto International Film Festival, Hong Kong International Film Festival, Sheffield Doc/Fest, DMZ Docs, TIDF, Tampere FF, Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia, Encounters Film Festival (UK), among a dozen others. No Winter Holidays is the winner of the Nativa Awards at the Alternativa Film Awards 2023 in Kazakhstan, the Best Feature Film Award at the Nepal Human Rights International Film Festival 2023, and the Best Cinematography Award at the Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF) 2024. The film received support from the DMZ Docs Industry Fund, won the HAF/WIP HKIFF Documentary Award, and was a finalist for the Whickers Film & TV Funding Award.
Salpa Films firmly upholds the values of collaborative filmmaking, and as such, actively collaborates with like-minded filmmakers from around the world. Salpa has already collaborated on notable projects, including the feature documentaries "After The Snowmelt" by Yi-Shan Lo of Taiwan (premiered in Visions du Réel 2024) and the TV documentary "In the Land of Machines” from South Korea (Closing Film at Jeonju IFF 2025). Salpa Films has demonstrated its ability to handle all aspects of production and direction, as it did for these two films when the filmmakers were unable to travel to Nepal due to Covid restrictions. Salpa Films has also worked on other TV documentaries, such as "Home Street Home" by Alan Lau for Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) and "A Himalayan Endgame" by Deepak Chaturvedi (India), which are scheduled to be aired in late 2025/ early 2026.
