Semyon Konstantinovitch Hitler (in Yiddish: סעמיאָן קאָנסטאַנטינאָוויטש היטלר ; in Ukrainian: Семен Костянтинович Гітлер ; in Russian: Семён Константи́нович Ги́тлер), was a Ukrainian Red Army soldier during the Second World War. He has no relation to Adolf Hitler.[1][2]

Biography

Semyon Hitler was born in 1922 in the Ukrainian village Orinin. Upon coming of age, he enlisted in the Red Army and was trained in the Machine Gun School in the Odessa Military District. During the war, he was a member of the 73rd Machine Gun Battalion and was awarded Medal "For Courage" (Russia) for his actions during the defense of Tiraspol on the Dniester River as part of the German invasion of the Soviet Union. He was later killed in action during the Battle of Sevastopol.[3]
