"Sports Song" is a song by "Weird Al" Yankovic that is the fourth track on his 2014 album Mandatory Fun. The song is a parody of football fight songs.[2]
Reception
[edit]Wired critic Jordan Crucchiola stated that "Weird Al" Yankovic was "here to tell you that your teams sucks. And his team is the best. And even if they're not really the best, they still suck way less than your team. So eat it."[3] Billboard critic Erin Strecker wrote that Yankovic has "given fans the perfect song to break out during the next big game." and that it doesn’t matter which game the song is for.[4]
Music video
[edit]The music video for the song premiered on the web series Funny or Die on July 18, 2014 in a series of "Weird Al" Yankovic videos released to promote Yankovic's album Mandatory Fun. In the video, Yankovic is a marching band leader with a band to do instrumentation and flag waving.[5]
