  • Comment: Very little of this article is about the company itself; most of it discusses reviews of the company's games, or announcements of its projects. Announcements do not establish notability. The awards mentioned do not yet have articles about the awards themselves(like Academy Award or Nobel Peace Prize) so those shouldn't be mentioned. 331dot (talk) 13:38, 19 January 2023 (UTC)

Stormind Games is an Italian video game developer based in Acireale, Sicily. It was founded in 2016 by Antonio Cannata and Federico Laudani.[1]

The studio is known for developing horror video games such as Remothered: Tormented Fathers, Remothered: Broken Porcelain, A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead and for the collaboration with 2K for Mafia: The Old Country.

History

[edit]

Stormind Games was established in Catania in 2016 by Antonio Cannata (CEO) and Federico Laudani (Studio Art Director), alongside the announcement of their debut game, the survival horror title Remothered: Tormented Fathers.[2]

From the beginning, the studio targeted the international market, specializing in narrative-driven games for PC and consoles, avoiding mobile and simulation games—genres commonly produced by other Italian studios at the time.[3]

The sequel, Remothered: Broken Porcelain, was released in late 2020 in collaboration with international publisher Modus Games (a Maximum Games label). That same year, Stormind Games received the Outstanding Italian Company award at the Italian Video Game Awards, recognized for establishing an international presence within a few years and earning multiple awards with Remothered: Tormented Fathers.[4]

In 2022, the studio announced a new original IP, Batora: Lost Haven, an action-adventure RPG, in collaboration with long-time publisher Team17.[5] The soundtrack features contributions from composer Ron Fish.

In 2023, Stormind Games announced its partnership with Behaviour Interactive for the creation of several characters in the game Dead by Daylight.[6] That same year, CEO Antonio Cannata was nominated for the Outstanding Individual Contribution award at the Italian Video Game Awards.[7]

In 2024, Saber Interactive and Paramount Pictures selected Stormind Games to develop A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead, a first-person horror game expanding the cinematic universe of A Quiet Place.[8]

Later that year, Stormind Games was ranked fourth in a list by Il Sole 24 Ore and Statista of the 200 fastest-growing companies based in Southern Italy, based on both revenue and employee growth.[9] In 2025, the "Eccellenza Italiana" community recognized the studio as one of Sicily's most significant companies for its contribution to innovation in the video game industry.[10] CEO Antonio Cannata was also listed by StartUpItalia among the top 10 gaming profiles to follow in 2025.[11]

On May 29, 2025, Stormind Games announced its collaboration with Hangar 13 and 2K Games on Mafia: The Old Country. The studio contributed significantly to the game's Sicilian setting, using its expertise in game development and cultural knowledge of the region to help create a historically accurate depiction of early 20th-century Sicily.[12][13]

On June 12, 2025, Stormind Games won the Outstanding Italian Company award again at the Italian Video Game Awards, five years after its first win. In the same ceremony, A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead was named Best Italian Game.[14][15]
