SunEnviro is a UK-based private environmental services group specialising in sustainable waste management, recycling, demolition and aggregates. Headquartered in Stowmarket, Suffolk, the company operates across the east of England through its divisions SunSkips, SunDemolition, and SunAggregates.

SunEnviro focuses on sustainability, community engagement, customer service, and investment in waste management innovations.

History

[edit]

SunEnviro was formed as the overarching brand uniting SunSkips, SunDemolition, and SunAggregates under a shared mission of sustainable waste management.

The group’s journey began in May 2020 with the launch of SunSkips in Stowmarket, providing comprehensive skip hire and recycling services with a focus on eco-friendly practices.

In January 2021, the company expanded into Cambridge by opening a new recycling site in Cottenham.

October 2022 saw further growth with the construction of a state-of-the-art site in Haverhill.[1] built from the ground up, along with a significant minority investment in the business by May Capital.

In November 2022, SunSkips expanded into Ipswich, a milestone that coincided with the celebration of its 3,000th online booking.

By January 2024, the company had expanded to Hoddesdon and launched SunDemolition [2], adding demolition services to its portfolio.

The following June, SunEnviro further broadened its services with the acquisition of Pips Skips in Norfolk [3]. Later that year, the business was rebranded under the SunEnviro umbrella to reflect its growing ambition across multiple environmental sectors.

In January 2025, SunEnviro introduced SunAggregates [4], providing high-quality recycled aggregates for construction and landscaping projects. This marked a significant environmental milestone, as it meant construction waste collected by SunSkips and SunDemolition could be diverted from landfill more easily.

Operations

[edit]

SunEnviro operates through three main divisions:

  • SunSkips provides skip hire and recycling services for domestic and commercial customers. It processes a wide range of waste types and offers an online booking system for convenience.
  • SunDemolition delivers demolition services across residential, commercial, and industrial sectors, specialising in technical demolition, structural alterations, and safe asbestos removal.
  • SunAggregates produces recycled aggregates from construction and demolition waste, helping divert significant volumes of material from landfill.

Facilities

[edit]

SunEnviro operates seven recycling and waste management facilities across Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, and Hertfordshire:

  • Stowmarket, Suffolk
  • Cottenham, Cambridgeshire
  • Haverhill, Suffolk
  • Ipswich, Suffolk
  • Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire (SunSkips and SunDemolition)
  • Dereham, Norfolk (formerly Pips Skips)
  • Thetford, Norfolk (SunAggregates aggregate wash plant)

All facilities are licensed and regulated by the Environment Agency.

Sustainability

[edit]

SunEnviro puts sustainability at the core of its operations.

The company reports diverting a significant proportion of collected waste from landfill annually through recycling, recovery, and reuse processes, although detailed public figures are not disclosed.

SunAggregates plays a key role in this mission by transforming waste into usable materials for construction projects.

The company’s environmental strategy also incorporates energy recovery through waste-to-energy partnerships and efforts to lower carbon emissions across its vehicle fleet and facilities.

Community

[edit]

SunEnviro actively supports local charities and initiatives. The group has partnered with organisations such as GeeWizz, supporting projects for children and young adults with disabilities and life-limiting illnesses. Other local causes include part funding a wheelchair [5] for local tennis player Ruby Bishop and raising £3,860 to support East Anglia's Children's Hospices [6]

SunEnviro also sponsors community events and local sport teams.
