Tark e Wafa (Urdu: ترک وفا), lit. Renunciation of Loyalty) is a Pakistani television drama series that aired on ARY Digital from 6 July 2024 to 22 September 2024. The series is written by Rabia Razzaque and directed by Kashif Ahmed Butt.[1] It features Mohib Mirza and Hina Chaudhary in lead roles. The story delves into themes of family loyalty, manipulation, and personal ambition within the traditional boundaries of society.[2][3]

Plot

The narrative centers around Sabtain, portrayed by Mohib Mirza, a successful builder and the only brother to three sisters. His life takes a turn when he meets Maryam, played by Hina Chaudhary, an aspiring architect from a middle-class family. Their marriage faces challenges due to the manipulative nature of Sabtain's eldest sister, Aneela. The drama explores the complexities of familial bonds, personal aspirations, and the impact of manipulation on relationships.[4][5]

  • Mohib Mirza as Sabtain — the beloved brother of three sisters. A dedicated businessman operating his own construction firm.[6]
  • Hina Chaudhary as Maryam — an innocent girl from middle-class family, pursuing a career as an architect. While her mother encourages her to get married, her grandmother insisted that she focuses on her career, eventually granting Maryam permission to pursue her career path.
  • Shahood Alvi as Najeeb — Maryam's father who always support her in her decision and life choices.
  • Fazila Qazi as Zehra — Maryam's mother who suggests that she prioritize marriage over her career.
  • Samina Ahmad as Bano Begum — Maryam's grandmother who is the highly respected and decision maker of the family. She insists on Maryam pursuing her career.
  • Zainab Qayyum as Aneela — Sibtain's elder sister and like a mother to all the siblings. Since, she took care of the siblings in the absence of their parents, she has authoritative nature.
  • Maya Khan as Sajeela — Sibtain's younger sister, who marries Nadeem, an unemployed man. Nadeem frequently pressures Sajeela to claim her share of Sibtain's property.
  • Ammara Saeed as Anam — Sibtain's youngest sister and Ayaz's love interest.
  • Abdullah Ejaz as Nadeem — Sajeela's husband. He is unemployed and have his eyes on the wealth of Sibtain.
  • Mujataba Abbas as Ayaz — a lower middle class dreamer and admirer of Anam, faces a dilemma when his mother conditions his marriage to Anam on Nausheen marrying Sibtain.
  • Areej Chaudhary as Nausheen — Ayaz's sister, is involved in the situation as her mother proposes the condition to marry Ayaz to Anam on Nausheen marrying Sibtain. She wants to marry Sibtain and accomplices Aneela in her manipulative tactics against Maryam.
  • Fareeda Shabbir
  • Asad Zaman as Shaheer — Sibtain's best friend, from a wealthy background. He supports Sibtain and guides him through thick and thin.
  • Sabrina Naqvi as Ayesha — Shaheer's wife, who is close to Sibtain through their friendship. Both Shaheer and Ayesha wants Sibtain to gets married and settle down and consider Aneela as a selfish woman.
  • Muhammad Faizan Sheikh as Yasir — Maryam's cousin, Najeeb's nephew. He wanted to marry Maryam but she rejects her. In turn, he tries to create misunderstanding between the relation of Sibtain and Maryam.
  • Ayesha Gul
  • Emaan Khan as Haya — Maryam's younger sister. Sameer's love interest.
  • Momin Majid as Sameer — Shaheer's younger brother and admirer of Haya.
  • Fouzia Mushtaq as Ruqayya — Shaheer and Sameer's mother. She despise Ayesha and has good terms with Aneela.

Reception

Tark e Wafa received positive reviews for its compelling storyline and strong performances, particularly from Mohib Mirza and Hina Chaudhary. The drama achieved an impressive 8.0 TRP rating, indicating its popularity among viewers.[8][9] However, Sibtain's sister's characters; Aneela, Sajeela and Anam were criticized and described as lacking positivity.[6]
