Timothy Doyle (born January 14, 1977, in Claymont, Delaware) is an American poster artist, illustrator, and business owner. He is noted for his pop-art screen prints, work for touring bands, and commercial illustration.
Biography
[edit]Doyle produces hand-printed posters for rock bands, concerts, and galleries worldwide. He has art directed tour poster series for artists including Metallica, Lumineers, "Weird Al" Yankovic, Kings of Leon, and Guided by Voices.
From 2001-2004, Doyle managed a small chain of comic book shops in Austin, Texas that included Funny Papers, Thor's Hammer, and First Federal Comics. In 2005, Doyle was hired by Tim League of the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema to run the newly formed Mondo (then called Mondotees). Doyle was the first general manager, lead designer, and art director of Mondo from 2005 until 2009.[1] While at Mondo, Doyle curated the poster program, publishing artwork from Tyler Stout, Jay Ryan, Jermaine Rogers, Todd Slater, and many others.
In 2009, Doyle left Mondo to start his own printmaking and design company, Nakatomi Inc, publishing extensively work by Paul Pope and for the Bernie Wrightson estate, among others.[2]
2015 saw the publication of a hardcover book called UnReal Estate: Iconic Pop Culture Locations,[3] a collection of Doyle's first three sold-out art shows, held at the Spoke Art gallery in San Francisco.[4]
Doyle attended Plano East Senior High School and Collin County Community College.
