Tracy L. M. Norton

Tracy L. M. Norton holds the Erick Vincent Anderson Professor of Professional Practice chair at Louisiana State University’s Paul M. Hebert Law Center. She co‑developed the Interactive Citation Workstation (ICW), a digital citation training tool introduced in 1998 and now used by more than half of U.S. law schools.[1]

Education and Early Career

Norton earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of North Texas and received her Juris Doctor from Baylor University School of Law in 1994. She practiced criminal law in Texas for approximately four years before entering legal academia.[2]

Professional Role

In 2022, Norton joined the LSU Law faculty as the Erick Vincent Anderson Professor of Professional Practice. Her work emphasizes legal writing pedagogy, integration of technology in teaching, online education design, and the ethical application of generative artificial intelligence under Model Rules standards.[3]

Interactive Citation Workstation

Norton co-developed the Interactive Citation Workstation through LexisNexis in 1998. This platform offers self-paced exercises for Bluebook and ALWD citation formats and remains widely used across American law schools.[3]

Tracy Norton is the author of the Interactive Citation Workbook (Bluebook and ALWD editions), updated annually since 1999. She speaks nationally on topics including legal writing, pedagogy, educational technology, and generative AI for legal education and practice.[3]
