uhomes.com

[edit]

Established in 2015.[1] uhomes.com[2] is an international student accommodation platform connecting international students with purpose built student accommodation providers (PBSA)[3] near major universities[4] across multiple countries. uhomes.com is headquartered in Tianjin, China, with a regional office in London, UK.[5] As of 2022, uhomes.com reported gross assets of approximately £1.8 million and operates in five countries globally[6]. The company's largest shareholder, holding a 100% stake, is Uhouzz International Co. Limited, a China-based firm.

History

[edit]

uhomes.com was founded by CEO Jason Yin[7] in 2015. Whilst working for New Oriental, China's largest education and group, he recognised a growing demand for student accommodation for international students. Initial funding for parent company Uhouzz was sourced through investments from New Oriental Education & Technology Group Inc [8] and Zhongxin Travel, a company listed on the Chinese A-share market.

In 2016, uhomes.com was founded, focusing on demand for international student accommodation outside of China. uhomes.com secured 46.8 million RMB in Pre-A round financing, led by Leo Group Co., Ltd and an additional 15 million RMB capital increase was agreed upon with LEO shares and other parties. uhomes.com completed it's A round financing of 50 million RMB, led by Tianjin Venture Capital Management Co., Ltd[9]

Operations

[edit]

Since its founding, uhomes.com has expanded significantly and by 2022, the company had over 100 employees and maintained offices in major cities including Shanghai, Beijing, Hanoi, London, New York, and Delhi[10]. It currently represents over 500 markets across North America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region.

In 2017, uhomes.com launched operations in the United Kingdom[11], partnering with key PBSA suppliers in cities including London, Manchester, and Coventry[12]. In 2023, uhomes.com further expanded into the North American market, catering to students in the United States and Canada. This growth reflects the company's strategic focus on high-demand student destinations and its commitment to enhancing the student experience with a focus on transparency and safety in housing.
