Venash Bailey (born 16 September 2008) is a Kenyan singer, songwriter, and music producer best known for his emotionally driven blend of R&B, soul, and acoustic music. He gained recognition in 2024 with the release of his debut single, "Broken", and has since established himself as a promising voice in East Africa’s indie music scene.
Early life
[edit]Venash Bailey was born in Nairobi, Kenya. He began writing music at the age of 12 and produced songs using free software and a second-hand laptop. Inspired by artists such as Sam Smith and Labrinth, Bailey developed a sound grounded in emotional honesty and soulful melodies.
Career
[edit]In early 2024, Bailey released his debut single, "Broken", which was described by *The Standard* as “a heart-wrenching ballad that places him firmly among Kenya’s most promising young vocalists.”[1] The song was also picked up by *Capital FM Kenya* for airplay during its weekly R&B spotlight segment.[2]
Following this breakthrough, Bailey released a string of singles including "Heavenly", "Beauty", and "Shattered Pieces", which drew praise from *Nation Africa* for their “vulnerable songwriting and minimalistic jazz influences.”[3]
In April 2025, his track "Blue Sky" was highlighted in *The EastAfrican* as “an introspective anthem of youth and mental clarity”[4]. The growing attention led to interviews on NTV Kenya and a feature on Pulse Live's "Artists to Watch 2025".
He is currently working on his debut album, scheduled for release in late 2025, which he describes as "a storybook of feelings, stitched together with piano, soul, and scars."
Personal life
[edit]Bailey lives in Nairobi and continues to write, produce, and record music from a home studio. In interviews, he has spoken about music as his emotional outlet, crediting songwriting for helping him process adolescence and anxiety.
