Zumper is an online marketplace for rental listings[1] in the U.S. and Canada.[2]

History

[edit]

Zumper was founded in 2012 by Anthemos Georgiades[3], Russell Middleton [4], Taylor Glass-Moore[5], and Leah Jones[6]. The company launched publicly at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference in San Francisco after raising $1 million in seed funding.[7] In 2016, Zumper acquired PadMapper, a rental search site, as part of its strategy to expand market share and compete with larger rental platforms such as Zillow.[8]

In 2017, Zumper partnered with Facebook Marketplace to add available housing rental units on Marketplace.[9] In 2021, Facebook discontinued featuring rental listings via partner feeds on Marketplace.[10]

Funding

[edit]

Zumper has completed several rounds of venture funding. In 2014, the company raised $6.5 million in a Series A round led by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers.[11] This was followed by a $17.6 million Series B round in 2016, led by Breyer Capital and Foxhaven Asset Management.[12]In 2018, Zumper raised $46 million in Series C funding, led by Axel Springer and Stereo Capital.[13]In 2020, the company raised $60 million in a Series D round led by e.ventures,[14] with an additional $30 million Series D1 round in 2022 led by Kleiner Perkins.[15]
