Florence Darel (born 1968) is a French actress known for her work in film, television, and theatre. She gained early recognition through her collaborations with director Éric Rohmer and has since worked with several prominent French and international filmmakers.

Early life

Florence Darel was born in Paris, France. She showed an early interest in acting and trained under Maurice Sarrazin, founder of the Grenier de Toulouse theatre company. She studied at his Paris-based acting school, Le Grenier-Maurice Sarrazin.

Career

Film and Television Darel made her screen debut in 1989 in the television film Les Jeux de Société, directed by Éric Rohmer. This marked the beginning of her professional collaboration with Rohmer, which continued with the theatrical release of Conte de Printemps in 1990, a role that brought her wider recognition.

She went on to work with several noted French directors, including Claude Berri in Uranus (1990), and Jacques Rivette in Jeanne la Pucelle II: Les Prisons (1994), in which she portrayed Jeanne d'Orléans. Her international work includes roles in Le Intermittenze del Cuore by Italian director Fabio Carpi, and Der Grüne Heinrich by Swiss filmmaker Thomas Koerfer.

Darel has also had a significant television career, appearing in a range of productions. She is known for her recurring collaborations with director Josée Dayan, appearing in works such as L'Enfant des secrets, Les Liens du cœur, Le Comte de Monte-Cristo, and Le Clan des Lanzac.

Theatre In addition to her on-screen work, Darel has performed in numerous theatrical productions. She has appeared in plays by Victor Hugo, Jean Anouilh, and Éric-Emmanuel Schmitt, showcasing her versatility as a stage actress.

Personal life

Darel's husband is Pascal Dusapin, a composer. In 2009, Darel's child was born.

In October 2017, she claimed to have been sexually harassed by Harvey Weinstein,[1][2] [3][4][5][6] as well as by French producers, including Jacques Dorfmann.[7]
