Halocene is an American rock band formed in 2008 in Phoenix, Arizona.[1][2] Led by vocalist Addie Nicole Amick and guitarist-producer Bradley Amick, a husband-and-wife duo, the group is noted for a style that spans pop-rock and metal influences.[3]

Halocene has built an international following through weekly cover videos on YouTube and live performance streams on Twitch, while albums and EPs from their home studio.[2][4]

History

[edit]

Halocene began on the Phoenix all-ages circuit and soon gained opening slots on the Vans Warped Tour and for mainstream acts including Blink-182 and Fall Out Boy.[3][5]

In September 2011, Halocene won radio station X103.9's "Fall Frenzy Showdown," earning a main-stage appearance at Tempe Beach Park alongside Blink-182, Jimmy Eat World and others, and released its debut album Can You Hear Us Now? the same month.[6][5]

Throughout the 2010s, Halocene used digital platforms and began uploading weekly rock and metal re-arrangements of pop hits; the channel surpassed 100 million total views by 2019.[3] Their online popularity led to an appearance on YouTube's talent series Best.Cover.Ever.; Halocene won the 2017 episode hosted by Ludacris and featuring Flo Rida after performing a rock version of "My House."[5]

In 2017, Halocene moved to Twitch and began livestreaming multi-camera concerts three nights a week. In 2020, they were named official “Twitch Music Ambassadors,” recognised for community engagement during the COVID-19 shutdown of in-person touring.[4]

Halocene's original discography expanded with the EP Make It Loud (2014) and the album Refraction (2018), both by Brad Amick. In October 2019, the band alleged that The Masked Singer Australia had copied their heavy-rock arrangement of Billie Eilish's "Bad Guy".[7][8][9]

The heavier EP Vita Nova appeared in 2021 and was supported by the 2022 "HCU Tour" across North America, the UK and mainland Europe, often featuring fellow YouTube rock artists Lauren Babic and Violet Orlandi.[10] After relocating their base of operations to Nashville, Tennessee in early 2023, Halocene released the metalcore-leaning Maleficent EP that May, and launched a North-American headlining run.[11]

In 2025, Halocene made its European festival debut at Rock For People (Poland) and Graspop Metal Meeting (Belgium).[12]
