It is a major dealer of Maruti Suzuki vehicles and operates showrooms and service centres across Kerala. Founded in 1984, the company is one of the largest Maruti Suzuki dealership networks in the country.[1] It employs over 6000 people.
History
[edit]Indus Motors was founded on 11 July 1984 in Chakorathkulam, Kozhikode, Kerala, by P.A. Ibrahim Haji and T.M. Nair.[2][3][4][5] In 1998, leadership transitioned to P.V. Abdul Wahab, a Member of Parliament, under whom the company expanded its operations throughout Kerala.[3][6][7]
Throughout the 2000s, Indus Motors established new showrooms and service centres in major districts of Kerala.[8] Between 2010 and 2015, the company focused on improving customer service and after-sales support.[9][10]
In 2017, Indus Motors was recognized as the top Maruti Suzuki dealer in India, a position it has maintained in subsequent years.[11][12] Between 2017 and 2023, the company received multiple awards at the Maruti Suzuki National Dealer Conference, including distinctions such as No. 1 Nexa Dealer, Royal Platinum (Arena Channel), and Alpha Band (Nexa Channel).[13][14]
In 2020, Indus Motors was the subject of a case study by Harvard Business School, which examined the company’s inventory management and supply chain practices. The study focused on its use of data analytics and strategic planning to improve operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.[15]
