Kapten James Cook FRS (7 November [K.J.: 27 Oktober] 1728 – 14 Februari 1779) adolah surang panjalajah, kartografer, jo perwira angkatan lauik Inggirih nan takenal dek tigo palayarannyo antaro tahun 1768 jo 1779 ka Lautan Pasifik dan Lautan Selatan. Inyo manyalasaian palayaran kaliliang dunia patamo nan tacatat di pulau-pulau utamo Selandia Baru jo marupokan urang Eropa patamo nan dikatahui mangunjuangi pasisia timur Australia jo Kapulauan Hawaii.[1]
Cook lahia pado tanggal 7 November [O.S. 27 Oktober] 1728 di kampuang Marton di Daerah Yorkshire Utara jo dibaptis pado 14 November di gareja paroki Santo Cuthbert.[2][3] Cook bagabuang jo angkatan lauik dagang Inggirih katiko mudo dan bagabuang jo Angkatan Lauik Karajaan pado tahun 1755.[4] Inyo batugas salamo Parang Tujuah Tahun.[5] Pado tanggal 25 Mei 1768, Cook diparintahan untuak mamimpin palayaran ilmiah ka Lautan Pasifik, nan manjadi panjalajahan patamonyo.[6] Cook malakuan panjalajahan sabanyak tigo kali yakni pado tahun 1768–1771, 1772–1775, jo 1776–1779. Cook maningga pado 14 Februari 1779 karano dibunuah dek panduduak asali di Hawaii.[7]
