History
[edit]Jobs.ca was founded in 2001 by Quebec-based Canadian entrepreneur, Manuel Francisci, under the company name JobWings Careers Inc.[4][failed verification] The platform expanded to operate 21 industry-specific job boards, serving various sectors within the Canadian job market, allowing clients to reach well-defined target audiences. In December 2024, Jobs.ca was acquired by British Columbia-based tech entrepreneurs Adi Gullia and Greig Perantinos. The acquisition aimed to strengthen Jobs.ca's role in the Canadian job market and prepare for advancements in AI-driven recruiting.[5]
Domain name
[edit]In May 2008, the domain name Jobs.ca was sold for $600,000 USD, making it the most expensive publicly reported sale of a Canadian .ca domain at that time.[6] This transaction ranked among the top domain sales globally for that year.[7] As of 2025, this remains the highest known publicly reported sale for a .ca domain, with Shop.ca coming in a close second.[citation needed]
The domain changed hands again in December 2013, selling for $450,000 USD, which made it the highest reported .ca domain transaction that year.[8]
Awards
[edit]In April 2008, JobWings Careers, the operator of Jobs.ca, was honored with a Mercuriades Award in the Professional Services – SMB category.[9][better source needed] This accolade was presented by the Fédération des chambres de commerce du Québec (FCCQ) and acknowledged the company's successful expansion in the Canadian online recruitment industry.
