Kathpurva
Kathpurva is a village located in the Kalpi tehsil of Jalaun district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh[1][2] It is a typical rural settlement in central Uttar Pradesh whose economy is primarily based on agriculture. The village is governed by a Gram Panchayat[3] under the Panchayati Raj system, which ensures local administration and community participation. Kathpurva Gram Panchayat is a Rural Local Body in Kadaura Panchayat Samiti part of Jalaun Zila Parishad.[4] There are total 2 Villages under Kathpurva Gram Panchayat jurisdiction. Gram Panchayat Kathpurva is further divided into 11 Wards. Gram Panchayat Kathpurva has total 11 elected members by people. Kathpurva Gram Panchayat has total 12 full time government employees.[5]
Geography
[edit]Kathpurva covers an area of approximately 356.84 hectares.[6] It is situated about 25 kilometers from the sub-district headquarters at Kalpi and roughly 40 kilometers from the district headquarters of Jalaun. Its location amid the agrarian landscapes of Uttar Pradesh supports a predominantly rural lifestyle with fields and small waterways dotting its surroundings . Pincode of Kathpurva is 285203[7][8][9]
Demographics
[edit]As per the 2011 Census of India, Kathpurva has a total population of 1,285 individuals residing in around 220 households.[10] The gender distribution is 690 males to 595 females.[11] Key demographic details include:
- Literacy Rate: Approximately 74.11% overall, with male literacy at 78.90% and female literacy at 68.63%.[12]
- Sex Ratio: There are about 862 females per 1,000 males, with a slightly lower child sex ratio for those aged 0–6 years.[13]
- Caste Composition: A notable portion of the population—around 53.54%—belongs to the Scheduled Castes.[11]
