Merlyn Sopjan
Merlyn Sopjan (b. 16 February 1973) is an Indonesian transgender rights activist.
Personal life
[edit]She was born on 16 February 1973 as the last of four children to R. Soebijanto Wirjowijoyo and Rr. T. Ismundari.[1] Raised as male, she felt her gender identity was female from she was 4 years old and she was trying to be attracted to women though she realize that she was attracted to men.[2] Merlyn was having his first relationship with a man when she was high school and make her accidentaly come out to her mother. At first, her mother was shocked and crying, but she explain that it was her condition and finally her mother accepting her as her current gender.[3]
