Miseon Lee (Korean: 이미선; born 1959) is an South Korean artist based in Ireland.[1] She is best known for portraits in oil.[2][3]

Early life

Lee was born in South Korea in 1959.[4]

Career

Lee earned an MA in Fine Art in Chung-Ang University, Seoul, focusing on Western painting styles rather than East Asian (ink and paint on rice paper). She moved to Germany in 1991, and then back to Korea to teach for 15 years.

She moved to Ireland in 2005 and her career took off after some well-received portraits in 2008.[5] Lee's awards include:

In 2022 she completed a portrait of former Supreme Court judge Catherine McGuinness.[2]

Personal life

Lee lives in Limerick. She has one son.[8][9]
