In June 2025, McCormack was removed from his role following allegations he had posted comments critical of Israel on a private Twitter account.[3] The comments, reported by Jewish News Syndicate, included posts that noted “We have overwhelmingly enabled Israel’s bad behavior” describing the United States' relationship with Israel.[1] McCormack questioned if the United States had become a proxy for Israel, and characterized Israel's responses to Palestinians as "disproportionately" targeting civilians."[4]

A Joint Chiefs of Staff official confirmed to The Daily Wire McCormack had been removed from his position, pending a probe into his conduct by the Army.[4]
