Nick Salafsky (born 1965) is an American scientist known for his work in adaptive management and evidence-based conservation.

Life

Salafsky was born and raised in Chicago, IL. Salafsky graduated from Harvard College in 1988, where he conducted field research at the Cabang Panti Research Camp in Mount Palung National Park in West Kalimantan, Indonesia.[1] He received his PhD in Environmental Studies from Duke University,[citation needed] with his doctoral dissertation examining ecological and economic aspects of locally developed land-use systems in West Kalimantan, Indonesia.[2]

Career

In 2000, Salafsky co-founded Foundations of Success, an organization focused on environmental conservation. At Foundations of Success, his work has concentrated on "defining clear and practical measures of conservation success and determining sound guiding principles for using conservation strategies."[3][4]

Salafsky is a co-author of Measures of Success alongside Richard Margoluis.
