Verge Records International, Inc., doing business as ONErpm (ONE Revolution People's Music) is an invitation-only music distribution and publishing company for artists in the more advanced stages of their careers.[1] In 2023 they launched a subsidiary called Offstep,[2][3] specifically designed for emerging artists.[4] For a fixed fee, artists can release their music and upload videos—similar to platforms like DistroKid or TuneCore. With this move, ONErpm is reserving its main services exclusively for established independent artists and labels.[5]
History
[edit]Founded in 2010 by Emmanuel Zunz and Matthew Olim, the company endeavored to offer such services as direct-to-fan sales, distribution to outlets like Facebook.[6]
According to information from the site, ONErpm charges no upfront fees and gives 85% of sales to artists and labels in a nonexclusive deal,[7] so the rights of artists are preserved and they also have an option to distribute content using Creative Commons licenses.
In 2013, ONErpm began offering a free package that includes distribution to Rdio, Grooveshark and YouTube in which artists can receive revenue generated from advertising on the video platform.[8]
In 2023, ONErpm launched ONErpm Enterprise Solutions (a Saas platform).
Services
[edit]ONErpm offers services to its artists in three tiers [9] with more services being offered at each tier. ONErpm provides infrastructure to help creators and content owners succeed by offering a suite of services that includes marketing support, supply chain tools, business intelligence, accounting and global payment solutions, and publishing.[10]
Artists
[edit]The company has distributed music from artists like Metric, Wutah Kobby, Tame Impala, Amerado,[11] Brett Kissel, Verzache, Ozomatli[12] Cabas and important Brazilian artists like Erasmo Carlos, BNegão, Chitãozinho & Xororó, Emicida,[13] and Leoni.
In 2020, ONErpm signed a deal with 112 & Bobby Shmurda.[14] In 2024, Canadian band MAGIC! signed to ONErpm to release their album Inner Love Energy.[15] Folk artist Chance Peña credits his team at ONErpm [16] with helping him earn multiple gold records for his songs "In My Room" and "i am not who i was".[17][18]
ONErpm is home to more than 300,000 artists and has more than 5,000 YouTube channels in its MCN.[19] ONErpm's statistics include 8 billion video plays per month, 500 million subscribers, and two billion audio streams per month. The company has 43 offices around the world, including offices in New York City, Nashville,[20] Miami,[21] Malaysia [22] and São Paulo.[23]
