PRISM+ is a Singapore-based consumer electronics brand of Prism Tech Pte. Ltd., specializing in affordable high-performance monitors, televisions, and smart home appliances. Launched in 2017, the company has rapidly expanded its product offerings and regional presence, leveraging a direct-to-consumer (D2C) model to disrupt traditional retail channels.[2]

History and Origins

[edit]

PRISM+ was established in March 2017 as a subsidiary of Singaporean custom PC builder Aftershock PC, founded to expand into gaming and entertainment displays.[3] The move enabled Aftershock PC to diversify its portfolio beyond computers, capitalizing on growing demand for affordable displays and TVs.

PRISM+ was founded by Jonathan Tan and two partners, with an initial investment of approximately S$300,000.[4] The company started by selling gaming monitors through a direct-to-consumer (D2C) model, allowing it to offer competitive prices without traditional retail markups.

The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated PRISM+'s growth, with monthly revenue increasing eightfold to about S$8 million by the end of 2020.[4] This success led to product line expansions into televisions, soundbars, and smart appliances such as air conditioners and refrigerators. [5]

Operations

[edit]

PRISM+ operates primarily through its e-commerce platform and offers a wide range of consumer electronics. Its D2C approach supports competitive pricing, bundled deals, and direct customer service.[2]

In recent years, PRISM+ has also opened retail showrooms in Singapore and Malaysia to complement its online presence.[6]

It has partnered with Amazon to extend its distribution reach across Southeast Asia, using Amazon’s fulfillment network to support logistics and delivery.[7]

Products

[edit]

PRISM+ offers a wide range of consumer electronics tailored to both gaming and home entertainment markets. The company's main product lines include:

  • Monitors: Initially launched with gaming monitors featuring high refresh rates and ultra-wide displays, PRISM+ has become known for offering competitive specs at lower price points.[8]
  • Smart TVs: PRISM+ TVs run on Android TV or Google TV platforms and come with 4K Ultra High Definition (UHD) resolution and built-in streaming apps like Netflix and YouTube.[9]
  • Soundbars: The company also offers affordable soundbar systems designed to complement its TV offerings for a full home theatre setup.
  • Smart Home Appliances: In 2022, PRISM+ entered the smart home market with products such as air conditioners, ceiling fans, and refrigerators, aiming to deliver modern design and energy efficiency.[10]

PRISM+ continues to expand its product catalog in response to regional demand, with a focus on integrating smart features and maintaining affordability.

Partnerships

[edit]

PRISM+ has developed several key partnerships to drive expansion:

  • TNB Aura: In 2022, PRISM+ secured S$45 million in Series A funding from regional venture capital firm TNB Aura, to support growth and expansion across Southeast Asia.[11]
  • Amazon.sg: Partnered in 2022 to list PRISM+ products on Amazon.sg, taking advantage of Amazon’s e-commerce infrastructure.[12]
  • HipVan: In 2021, PRISM+ launched a retail presence within furniture brand HipVan’s showroom at Suntec City, allowing customers to experience its products in person.[13]
