Davide Arneodo (born 5 September 1982), better known by his stage name Perdurabo, is an Italian musician, composer, and record producer. His work blends electronic, acoustic, and experimental sounds with classical influences, combining acoustic instruments with analog synthesizers.
Alongside his solo career, he is a member of the Italian band Marlene Kuntz and has collaborated with artists and producers such as Gareth Jones, Jochen Arbeit (Einstürzende Neubauten), and Jörg Wähner (Apparat).
Early life and education
[edit]Arneodo’s passion for music began at an early age. He started studying classical music at the age of ten and graduated in violin from the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory of Music in Turin in 2003[1][2]. He later deepened his studies in electronic music[3], further developing his interest in sound experimentation and synthesis. Early experimentation with analog synthesizers and electronic music[4] led to a deep curiosity about the interplay between electronic and acoustic elements[5][6].
Career
[edit]Marlene Kuntz (2007–2014)
[edit]In September 2007, Arneodo became a member of Marlene Kuntz, one of Italy’s most renowned alternative rock bands.[7]. As a multi-instrumentalist, he contributed to the band's evolution, introducing instruments such as the violin, keyboards, and Moog synthesizers into their sonic landscape. His role in the band helped shape the distinctive, experimental sound that characterized Marlene Kuntz's later albums. His close work with Moog synthesizers led to an endorsement deal with the Italian distributor Midiware, making him the first Moog endorser in Italy[8].
Perdurabo and Solo Career (2014–2023)
[edit]In 2014, Arneodo relocated to Berlin, immersing himself in the city's electronic music scene. During this period, he began developing his solo project Perdurabo, collaborating with German drummer Jörg Wähner (of Apparat) and British singer Roman Rappak (of Breton). This collaboration culminated in the recording of the Komponent EP[9] at Funkhaus Nalepastraße in Berlin. The 2018 release marked a key moment, as Perdurabo began to emerge as a distinct musical identity.
This was followed by The Time Traveller in 2021, a collaborative album with Tomat (!K7)[10], which further refined Arneodo's style and approach to sound. His commitment to experimentation continued with 10 Pianos, an experiment that took place at the Piatino Piano Factory, a historic piano manufacturer in Turin. Arneodo composed a track with ten different pianos in just ten hours. Both The Answer and 10 Pianos were featured on the official Piano Day 2021 and 2022 playlists curated by Nils Frahm.
Magnetar (2024–present)
[edit]In 2024, Arneodo released his debut solo album Magnetar[11][12][13][14], mixed at Strongroom Studios in London by Gareth Jones, known for his work with Depeche Mode, Erasure, and Yann Tiersen. The album, which took ten years to produce, reflects a long process of experimentation and refinement.[15][16] Jones applied his expertise in blending electronic and experimental elements, contributing to the album’s sound. Magnetar was highlighted for its fusion of electronic, rock, and experimental music, with Clash (8/10)[17] praising its originality, while Rolling Stone[18] recognized its distinct artistic vision.
The album featured collaborations with Jochen Arbeit (Einstürzende Neubauten), Jörg Wähner (Apparat), and guest vocalists Roman Rappak (Miro Shot), Chloe Charles (Echlo)[19], Daudi Matsiko, and Tom Adams[20], who added additional layers to the sound. Mastered at Metropolis Studios in London by Matt Colton, a Grammy Award-winning engineer known for his work with Thom Yorke, James Blake, and Fontaines D.C., the album’s sound was refined with enhanced clarity and depth.
In 2025, Arneodo released Magnetar (Unpublished Works)[21], a collection of tracks that were left off the final album. These pieces offer a deeper look into the creative process behind Magnetar, providing further insight into the artist’s development and complementing the original album.
