Rana Masud

Rana Masud (Bengali: রানা মাসুদ) is a Bangladeshi film director, screenwriter, and media professional known for his contributions to the Bangladeshi film and advertising industries. He has received recognition at national and international film festivals and is also active in film education and media production.[1][2][3]

Career

Rana Masud began his professional work in the advertising industry. He held the position of Creative Director at Madonna Advertising Ltd and Dhanshiri Media Production House before establishing his own production company, Ferywala Communications, which produces audiovisual content.[1]

Earlier in his career, Masud worked as an assistant director to filmmaker Tanvir Mokammel. He contributed to several of Mokammel’s films, including Lal Shalu, Lalon, Jibondhuli, and Rupsha Nodir Banke.[2]

He has directed more than 300 television commercials and public service announcements for a range of national and international organizations.[3] His media work includes both docudramas and issue-based television programming. This includes Guptodhan, a docudrama, and Joyeetar Joy Jaatra, a 26-episode talk show focused on women entrepreneurs.[1]

Masud is a member of the Bangladesh Short Film Forum and the Bangladesh Theatre Artists Association. He also serves as a faculty member at the Bangladesh Film Institute.[4]

Screenings

Rana Masud’s short film The Residence (Nibash) has been screened at a range of international and regional film festivals. It was invited to the Oman International Film Festival, organized by the Oman Film Society[7], and has been shown at the South Asia International Film Festival in Canada, the Al-Nahj International Film Festival[1] and the Iraqi International Short Film Festival in Iraq, the Saphla Film Festival in Italy, and the Film Festival Competition in Agartala, India.[5] The film was also selected for the FOTFI International Film Festival in Morocco.[5] In addition to international appearances, Masud’s work has been shown at regional festivals in Bangladesh, including in Sylhet.[8]
