Rasha Amin (born July 27, 1981) is an Egyptian multidisciplinary artist based in Italy. She is known for her mixed media paintings, experimental video art, and photography, often exploring themes of identity, womanhood, and cultural heritage.[1][2]
Early life and education
[edit]Amin was born in Cairo, Egypt, and showed an early interest in art. Encouraged by her mother, she pursued her formal education in the arts and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Helwan University in 2003. In 2024, she received a Master’s degree in Art and Culture Management from the Rome Business School.[2][3]
Career
[edit]Amin began her career in 2005, initially focusing on painting while working as a graphic designer. Her background in design contributed to her interdisciplinary approach, which expanded to include installation, video, and photography. Her work often reflects personal narratives inspired by her Egyptian heritage and life in Italy.[1]
In 2019, Amin established an art space called *La Casetta Bianca* in southern Italy, where she conducted art workshops for children and adults. In 2022, she opened *Art Studio Rasha Amin* in Rome, a creative studio and platform for collaboration among artists.[4][5]
Themes and style
[edit]Amin’s work is characterized by visual storytelling, exploring topics such as memory, displacement, and female identity. She often combines traditional media with digital and experimental video techniques. Her aim is to create dialogue across cultures and challenge fixed perceptions through layered, narrative-driven artworks.[6]
