Rosetta

Rosetta is a city in the Nile Delta in Egypt. It is about 65 kilometres (40 mi) east of Alexandria. In Arabic the city is called Rashid. Today, it has a population of about 300.000 people. To the world, it became known because the Rosetta Stone was found near the city, in 1799. The city was founded in the year 870. It was known as Bolbitine.
