Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Wikipedia's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established. If you still feel that this subject is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, please rewrite your submission to comply with these policies.

Tin Whistles Scholarship Foundation
[edit]The Tin Whistles Scholarship Foundation (TWSF) is dedicated to providing college scholarships to high-achieving students from Moore County high schools. Scholarship recipients demonstrate exceptional academic performance, leadership skills, community service, and financial need.
History
Since awarding its first scholarships in 1979, the TWSF has supported the college education of over 165 students through 2024 contributing over $2.1 million. Over its 40+ year history, the program has expanded significantly, welcoming new scholars to a distinguished roster of alumni who have excelled in a wide range of professions.
Key Milestones
1979: Awarded two four-year scholarships.
2024: Expanded to six four-year scholarships plus three nursing scholarships at Sandhills Community College.
The foundation’s founders, Parker Hall and Vice Admiral William E. Gentner, envisioned scholarships as a way to "give back" to the Moore County community they cherished. From its humble beginnings with two four-year scholarships, the program has grown to fund six four-year scholarships and three nursing scholarships annually. Over the past 40 years, Tin Whistles members have donated over $2 million in scholarships to 165 students (as of 2024). Recognized by The Pilot as the "Gold Standard" for scholarships in the county, the TWSF continues to make a lasting impact.
TWSF has a YouTube channel.

- Help organize six annual events for the Tarheel Youth Golf Association (TYGA) of the Sandhills.[21]
- Band of Brothers - For more than 30 years, a dedicated group of members, known as the Band of Brothers, gather one day each month to clear litter from Morganton Road, spanning from US 15-501 to NC Route 5
- Members play an active role in Habitat for Humanity, assisting with home repairs that allow seniors to remain in their residences and contributing to new home construction projects for families in need.
- Each year, Tin Whistles members volunteer over 650 hours assisting with patient transportation and support services at First Health Moore Regional Hospital, helping to enhance the care and comfort of patients.
- Members actively volunteer at prestigious tournaments, including the North-South Amateurs, USGA Championships, and other tournaments in the Pinehurst area.[2]
