From what I've searched, In the Middle East, the prevalence is very low in places like Lebanon or Syria, but much higher in Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, the Basra region in Iraq etc. In Europe, the only region I've found in which it is particularly common among the native population is Sicily. Everywhere else (including Greece etc) it primarily affects people of foreign origin (typically sub-saharan African))
