Steven E. North (born October 16, 1941) is an American trial attorney who works to represent persons who suffer injuries caused by medical malpractice.[1]
Early life and education
[edit]North attended Stuyvesant High School.[1] After graduating, North pursued higher education at the City College of New York, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1963.[2] He continued his legal studies at Brooklyn Law School, obtaining his Juris Doctor (J.D.) in 1966. In 1967, North completed a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree at New York University School of Law,[1][3] specializing in legal theory and practice.[2][3]
Career
[edit]North began his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in the New York County District Attorney's Office.[4] His work included prosecuting cases related to the 1968 Columbia University protests.[5] As part of the Homicide Bureau,[6] he handled murder cases and participated in the investigation of the 1970 Greenwich Village townhouse explosion[5][7] connected to the Weather Underground organization. He later served as Special Assistant Attorney General in the New York State Attorney General's Office[3][8], where he worked on cases involving professional misconduct within the legal system. His pro bono activities included service with the New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct and work as a mediator for federal courts[2][3][9]
